TNEB Tariff Slab Rates at a Glance

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I enter monthly or bimonthly units?

TNEB issues domestic bills once every two months. Enter the total units shown on your bimonthly assessment. The slab structure used by this calculator is the official bimonthly structure.

Does the calculator include fixed charges, FSA, and taxes?

No. The calculator estimates energy charges only. Your official bill may also include fixed charges, Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA), and taxes, so the final amount can differ slightly.

Who is eligible for the 200 units free electricity scheme?

As per the Government Order signed on May 10, 2026, domestic consumers using 500 units or less per bimonthly cycle get the first 200 units free. Consumers using more than 500 units continue under the existing tariff with the first 100 units free. The calculator shows this comparison automatically for eligible usage.

Which tariff does this calculator use?

It uses the TNERC revised domestic tariff (LT-IA) effective July 1, 2024, and additionally estimates your bill under the 200 units free scheme announced in May 2026. Slab rates for the 201-500 unit range under the new scheme are estimates until TNEB publishes the official notification.

Why is my official TNEB bill slightly different from this estimate?

Small differences are normal. They usually come from FSA, fixed charges, rounding, or arrears and adjustments carried over from a previous bill.

Is this an official TNEB or TANGEDCO website?

No. This is a free, independent tool built to help Tamil Nadu consumers estimate their electricity bill. Always verify the final amount with TANGEDCO.
